About Our Pastor

Mr. Timothy A. Lance, a native of Georgetown, South Carolina, retired from the US Army Reserves after 28 years of service.  He is married to the former Ms. Priscilla Singleton.  They have four adult children and are now guardians of their 16 year old niece. 
 

During his 28 years of military service Mr. Lance completed numerous military schools and served in various positions and levels of responsibilities.  While serving in Germany, he was ordained to preach the gospel by the General Baptist Association of West Germany, Belgium, and other countries. 
 

Mr. Lance left the active army in 1993 to pursue a Masters of Divinity to become a Chaplain.  He received the Masters of Divinity (Summa cum Laude), from Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh, NC in May 1994, and was awarded the American Bible Society's Achievement Award for studies in Biblical Languages.  He received an Honorary Doctor of Ministry from Tri-county Bible College in Maxton, NC in January 2001.

Mr. Lance was recalled to active service in February 2002 to support the war efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.  He served as a Chaplain for the Corps Support Command at Fort Bragg until he was reassigned to the 321st Sustainment Brigade, Baton Rouge, LA to deploy to Iraq in March 2009.  When the unit returned from Iraq in September 2009, Mr. Lance was transferred to the 402d Army Field Support Brigade and continued to serve in Iraq at Joint Base Balad until February 2010.  Upon returning to the US he was assigned as the Command Chaplain for the 143d Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC) covering 11 states in the Southeast Region until he retired from the reserves on 15 May 2011. 
 

His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Parachute Rigger Badge.  Hohenfels Most Valuable Volunteer Award. Upon retirement from the army he was awarded the NC State Order of the Long Leaf Pine award by Governor Beverly Perdue.
 

Mr. Lance served as the "Stated Supply Mr." for Dothan Presbyterian Church, Maxton, NC.  He currently serves as Pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Whiteville, NC, and Moderator of the New Era association.  Mr. Lance also serves as the Juvenile Crime Prevention Counselor for Columbus County Schools.  He is enrolled in the PhD program with Walden University and is actively involved in many community service activities.  He has completed two missionary trips to Uganda, East Africa.  Mr. Lance is a servant of Jesus Christ whose greatest desire is to be an instrument of peace and love in a lost and dying world.
